My family will all be quick to tell you that I'm weird and frankly when one of my kids has said that I'm weird, my response has always been, "thank you. I take that as a compliment."
This weekend started out so rainy and miserable and all I could do is think about being somewhere sunny and beachy which started me thinking about travel.
What do you like to do when you travel? Like most people I like seeing the top-rated "things to see" but I also enjoy visiting grocery stores (depending on what country I'm in) and stopping in the local music shop. It's fun to be able to enjoy foods and music from other places long after I'm back home.
One of my other things to do is to bring home bits of nature. I've got shells, rocks, salt and pine cones from several countries and yesterday I pulled many of the items out to decorate with them.
What are your favorite souvenirs?
And speaking of travel. Did you see this contest? http://carlacoulson.com/paris-portrait-shoot-and-make-over-give-away/

I love that you decorate with these items! Whenever I travel I try to bring home something special to remember the trip. I don't have a specific thing I go to, but I like bringing something home too!
ReplyDeleteI like to collect items from nature, too. Seashells, rocks, sticks. On a major trip we like to bring back just one piece of local art as a souvenir - sometimes a painting, sometimes a piece of dishware, etc. But I'm very careful to make certain that it will fit into our home.
ReplyDeleteI have a lovely dish of tiny shells that I have collected from all over the world. They bring back memories, not just of the place, but of the people too.
ReplyDeleteI love to travel and visit the local spots besides the big attractions also. I always try to find a souvenir that I can make into a Christmas ornament for my tree. Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteI love museum gift shops when we travel...in fact we might bypass the museum itself and just hit up the gift shop...and I love tacky souvenirs....like snow globes ad miniature landmark buildings...and of course you have seen my 1950's state souvenir plate collection...I got that gene from the mother who collected those on trips back in the 50's....
ReplyDeleteI almost bring a rock home. I think I'm into odd collections!
ReplyDeleteI love your header photo. It just makes me smile.
We start looking for places to cool off after it starts consistently around 110 degrees a day in July. San Diego, here I come. Or now Orange County now that Sheldon lives there.
ReplyDeleteNo, you are not weird--you are a packrat! (LOL?)
