Green Fashion

The Green movement is a great thing. We all need to do our part to conserve, reduce waste and help preserve our world. Yesterday was Earth Hour and cities across the globe turned out the lights for one hour in an effort to bring awareness to the importance of conserving. I got to help with the planning and execution of this effort in Atlanta and it was a lot of fun. The problem is that the Green Movement is creating new fashion terminology. To celebrate Earth Hour. a big party was planned to mark the event and when the invitations came out, the suggested dress code was Enviro Chic Cosmopolitan. What does that mean? I surfed the web but found no definition. I went to Ann Taylor and asked the sales associate what it means...no one knew. My conclusion was that Mimi's fashion guidelines must apply -buy it used, not new.

Still More Easter

So this year was a really great Easter so I have added a few more pictures. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I was confirmed at the Easter Vigil so I am officially Catholic (Caitlin, please be sure to pass my photo with our Priest on to Shaun). On Sunday our family held our family gathering at my brother and sister-in-law's farm. Please keep in mind that we are not your ordinary family. While most families hunt eggs, we have a tradition of smashing them on each other (keep in mind that they are biodegradable confetti eggs). You will see that my niece Melanie is an accomplished egg smasher. Of course Easter wouldn't be complete without a picture of Jordan and Miah.

I hope your Easter season was as blessed and wonderful as ours.

Happy Easter

It has been a wonderful weekend for me. Yesterday was my confirmation so we spent several hours at the Easter Vigil. This morning I went to the 10 o'clock Mass, then Hassan and I headed down to Roberta, Georgia to have Easter with my family. As we drove through Peach County I had to stop and take a picture of the peach trees in bloom. Nothing beats scenes of the country side and the farmlands down country roads throughout Georgia.

Atlanta Skies on Saturday

Just Another Day, But With A Touch of Green

I am so happy to have just a regular day. In Atlanta it seems we spent about 24 hours doing nothing but watching the weather or going to the basement. Yesterday was a gorgeous day and we were all so appreciate for the calm and the sun. May the luck of the Irish be with you today.

Célébrer la Différence

My neighbor's pansies are in full bloom and absolutely beautiful. As I was passing by their two large beds of lavender pansies I spotted something that struck me. In the midst of one bed is a beautiful golden orange pansy. Without a doubt it is beautiful but it doesn't exactly fit in. It struck me that sometimes I feel that way too - just different from the norm. The golden pansy reminded me that it isn't necessary to be a part of a crowd. In fact, the confident lovely flower seemed to be leading the bunch.

Wedding Bells

So last weekend was the wedding and it was wonderful. Love was in the air and I think everyone was feeling the love. We had so many fun and memorable moments together that it is hard to know where to start. The easy place to start would be the weather. For February in Seattle we could not have asked for better weather. It was partly sunny most of the time with mild temperatures for the duration of the trip. As the friends and family gathered the circle of love just kept growing which made our time together a memorable occasion. We celebrated in great company with unbelievable wines and outstanding cuisine - a winning combination!

Thought you might enjoy a picture.
