One of My Favorites
It seems like only yesterday that I went with my older brother to see Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. It's one of those movies that I own and enjoy watching over and over again but I have especially enjoyed listening to South American Getaway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyt6z9imOEk&feature=related. It is one of those songs that sounds exciting and sad at the same time. Posting this as a tribute to Paul Newman.

Yes, a tribute is definitely in order. I felt saddened at the news that Paul Newman passed away. A loss to the world at large, for sure. I grew up watching all his films. The soundtrack to Buth Cassidy marks a very specific time in my childhood, right before my mom passed. In the 70's my family and I were waiting for a flight at Kennedy airport and we were in a little room. Sitting in the corner was Paul Newman. My grandmother and aunt were silently melting and squeeling. He sat casually at the end of a couch, just reading the paper. I just remember thinking he seemed so "normal," not at all like other celebrities. It feels like the end of an era...
ReplyDeleteDid this beautiful man ever make a bad movie? His presence alone was enough to rescue a script in trouble.
ReplyDeleteI hope he knew and felt he had lived his life well by giving so much of himself to the rest of us.
Such a wonderful man. I will miss him.
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad. He was an amazing actor--and so easy on the eyes!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I love the song you sang on my blog today! My kids used to sing that as a prayer before meals. Love it!
