Atlanta's Skyline on New Year's Eve

Recycled Resolutions

New Year's Eve has a way of making me feel old. Even when I was young my idea of a good time on New Year's Eve was to stay home and that is exactly what we plan to do tonight. During the course of the evening I usually spend some time thinking back over the year trying to remember if I succeeded in achieving any of my goals. Last year my one and only resolution was to start setting more boundaries by making it a practice to say no to things that I didn't want to do. I don't recall being too successful at saying "no" so I guess I will recycle last year's resolution for 2008.

My son gave us an outstanding bottle of wine for Christmas which we have saved for our celebration tonight. As we usher in the New Year here is a toast to health, happiness and prosperity in 2008. God Bless.

What Do You Collect?

A few years ago I found a whatnot with the marking Holt Howard. It just so happens that my maiden name is Holt so I set out to learn a little more about Holt Howard and along the way started collecting a few pieces. Holt Howard, or HH as you will often find, was an importer of whatnots that were made Japan in the 1950s and 1960s and sold in dimestores (predecessor to the dollar store). The pixie collectibles are popular but I found some Christmas items that I enjoy. Here is a photo of one of my holiday wares.

Great Way to Start the Year!

It is hard to imagine a better way to start the year than to share a few of my joys with others. My granddaughters and niece bring much love and happiness into our lives. It was so wonderful to see how much they enjoyed their handmade sock monkeys given to them by my sister -simple pleasures are the best.

I hope you are still enjoying the holiday season with family and friends. As you reflect back over 2007, may your heart be full with happiness and wonderful memories.
