One of My Favorites

It seems like only yesterday that I went with my older brother to see Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. It's one of those movies that I own and enjoy watching over and over again but I have especially enjoyed listening to South American Getaway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyt6z9imOEk&feature=related. It is one of those songs that sounds exciting and sad at the same time. Posting this as a tribute to Paul Newman.

  1. Yes, a tribute is definitely in order. I felt saddened at the news that Paul Newman passed away. A loss to the world at large, for sure. I grew up watching all his films. The soundtrack to Buth Cassidy marks a very specific time in my childhood, right before my mom passed. In the 70's my family and I were waiting for a flight at Kennedy airport and we were in a little room. Sitting in the corner was Paul Newman. My grandmother and aunt were silently melting and squeeling. He sat casually at the end of a couch, just reading the paper. I just remember thinking he seemed so "normal," not at all like other celebrities. It feels like the end of an era...

  2. Did this beautiful man ever make a bad movie? His presence alone was enough to rescue a script in trouble.
I hope he knew and felt he had lived his life well by giving so much of himself to the rest of us.

  3. It is so sad. He was an amazing actor--and so easy on the eyes!

By the way, I love the song you sang on my blog today! My kids used to sing that as a prayer before meals. Love it!
